Tips for using airports/airlines for people with transportation vulnerabilities
Estimated population of transportation vulnerabilities in Korea
According to the ‘4th plan to improve mobility for transportation vulnerabilities, approximately 30% of the total population had transportation vulnerabilities in 2021.
Korea's total population is expected to decrease, but the population with transportation vulnerabilities is expected to continue to increase.
Transportation vulnerabilities: People who experience inconvenience in transportation, such as the disabled, the elderly, companions of infants and young children, children, pregnant women, etc.
As the number of air users increases due to the popularization of the aviation industry, the number of transportation vulnerabilities using air transportation is also increasing.
In Korea, the ‘Act to Improve Transportation Vulnerabilities’ was created to ensure that transportation vulnerabilities can be moved safely and conveniently. Through this, we are building a people-centered transportation system by expanding transportation and transportation facilities and improving the pedestrian environment.
Accordingly, each airport and airline is providing a variety of services to guarantee the right to travel for transportation vulnerabilities. Let’s find out what services are available. / Service center for transportation vulnerabilities
The movement of transportation vulnerabilities is supported by the airport operator from the airport entrance to the airline check-in counter, and boarding the plane is then supported by the airline.
# Airport
⊙ At the airport, electric car transfer service, wheelchair lift, wheelchair rental, and kiosk for transportation vulnerabilities are available.

-Supporting documents: Elderly and infants (passport), disabled people (welfare card), pregnant women (maternity notebook), etc.
- If unaccompanied, request assistance from airport and airline staff and provide information in advance
⊙When reserving airline tickets, it is important to notify in advance of transportation vulnerabilities. For more information, contact the purchaser, airport operator, or airline.
We hope that people with transportation vulnerabilities will be able to use airports and airlines more conveniently, and that they will always have safe and comfortable travel.
