Korea Transport Institute Hosts Events on AI Mobility Roadmap and National Transportation Policy
On June 20, 2025, the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), led by President Kim Young-chan, held the “AI Mobility Roadmap Performance Sharing Conference” at the Construction Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The event was themed “Future Mobility Realized by AI, Human-Centered Mobility Connected by Data”, and featured public seminars and expert discussions with professionals from both the public and private sectors. During the conference, Tak Se-hyun, Head of the Future Mobility and AI Research Team at KOTI, presented the three core objectives of the AI Mobility Roadmap: ▲Ensuring mobility for all, ▲Fostering transportation innovation and the industrial ecosystem through AI, and ▲Advancing toward a sustainable, carbon-neutral transport nation. Additionally, five strategic directions were proposed, emphasizing automation, integration, safety, connectivity, and eco-friendliness. Jang Dong-ik, Head of the Mobility Data Convergence Research Team, introduced case studies analyzing mobility big data by combining AI with mobile and navigation-based trajectory data. One study measured congestion at individual intersections using vehicle navigation data, while another estimated road traffic volumes using mobile movement data analyzed by AI.
